BDPL Knock-out Cup Round 1

DRAW MADE FOR PRELIMINARY ROUND OF BDPL TEAM KNOCK-OUT CUP 2015/16

The draw has been made for the Preliminary Round of the 2015/16 BDPL Keith Strong Memorial Tropy. Ties will be played this coming Thursday 26th November with the winning Teams progressing to the first Round proper whilst the losers will enter the Plate Competition.

This Season, the team numbers have necessitated a Preliminary Round, drawn at random. The draw sees two of the William Twigg sides in early cup action with the Twigg Gypos looking to get over their Derby Day mauling at the hands of the William Twigg A playing host to The Boot. Table topping William Twigg A meanwhile host the Bracknell Bowls Club in what is likely to be a keenly fought tie. In the two remaining ties, the Cannie Man B host the Royal Oak A in the only all Division 1 tie where both teams will no doubt fancy their respective chances of progressing to the first round proper. The final Tie sees the Sun, a pernenial strong cup side, host the Crowthorne Social Club B who face a stern test as they adjust to life in the BDPL.

NEW MEMBERS REQUIRED FOR BDPL COMMITTEE

The BDPL Committee is currently seeking new members to assist in the general administration of the League. As may be apparent, we have been somewhat short handed over the past season and are in desparate need of volunteers to assist in all decision making and most importantly, general administrative tasks such as distributing Registration Forms, acting as Division Masters, collecting outstanding results and registration fees.

We are also looking for volunteers who have a working knowledge of website administration to assist with regular updating of the BDPL Website.

Anyone who feels they may want to contribute woudl be very welcome and in the first instance contact should be made with any of the existing Committee Members who details can be found here to register your interest.

BDPL DIVISION ONE PLAY OFFS FIRST LEG MATCHES SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK

This year's Division 1 play-offs see the William Twigg, who narrowly lost out on automatic promotion, face off against the Admiral Cunningham who may be a little disappointed to have only just sneaked a play-off spot having been one of the pre-season promotion favourites. In the other tie, the Club 8 B who've enjoyed another successful season face the Boot who can be very impressed with their efforts this year after a brief absence from the League. A former mainstay of the Premier League, Messrs Smutts and Casserly will be hoping to roll back the years and lead their side to a long awaited return to the top flight.

WILLIAM TWIGG GYPOS RETAIN KEITH STRONG MEMORIAL TROPHY; CLUB 8 B WIN BDPL TEAM PLATE

Congratulations to the William Twigg Gypos who have retained the Keith Strong Memorial Tropy and in doing so have become the first team to win the double in successive seasons for as long as anyone can remember.

The final pitched the Gypos against their nearest and dearest rivals the William Twigg A, Matches between these two are notoriously tight and this one proved no different. The Twigg A got off to by far the better start, scampering into a 5 - 2 lead and indeed it could have been worse for the Gypos with a potentially defining eighth frame looking for all the world like it would go the way of the Twigg A, only for the Gypos to pinch it and keep them in the tie. That frame proved to be the catalyst for a revival as the Gypos won five frames on the bounce before Brett Cooney dug deep to wrestle a frame from Shane Cuthbert to keep the Twigg A in the match. The Gypos were not to be denied though and Leigh Morshead held his nerve to close out an excellent clearance under pressure to secure the Gypos' second successive League and Cup double.

BDPL Team Plate

Meanwhile, in the BDPL Team Plate, the Club 8 B faced off against the Prince of Wales. Despite enduring a torrid league campaign, the Prince of Wales still went into the match against their Division 1 opponents as favourites, having previously fared well in the Palte Competition.

However, league placings counted for nothing as the Club 8 B pulled off a major shock, sweeping the Prince of Wales aside 8-0 in a little over an hour and a half. It was a stunning result for the Division 1 side who produced some excellent quality pool which their Premier League opponents simply couldn't live with.

Whilst the Prince will spend the close season licking their wounds and hoping to put this season's league and cup disappointments behind them, the Club 8 B will be hoping that they'll have cause for a double celebration as they aim to achieve promotion to the top division via the play-offs.

WILLIAM TWIGG GYPOS RETAIN BDPL PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE; CROWTHORNE CLUB CLAIM BDPL DIVISION 1 TITLE

Congratulations to the William Twigg Gypos who have become the first team to win back to back BDPL Titles, having successfully defended their 2013/14 Title.

In a thoroughly entertaining season which has seen the top four teams involved in the title race for much of the season, the Gypos' consistency, together with a week which saw both the William Twigg A and the Woodcutters miss the chance to take advantage of back to back defeats for the Gypos, eventually saw them over the finishing line having lost only two matches all season.

The William Twigg A also enjoyed another excellent season but for the second season in succession, have been narrowly edged out by their nearest and dearest rivals and once again have to settle for the runners-up spot.

Special mentions should also go to the Woodcutters who with a little more consistency next season, will surely become genuine title contenders themselves. Congratulations too to the Cricketers who have enjoyed another solid season without perhaps challenging for the top two spots as they might have hoped this season.

Team of the year though must go to Club V8 who in their first season in the top division have far exceeded many people's expectations and finished in a hugely respectable 5th place. It will be interesting to see if they're able to build upon an excellent first season in the top flight next year.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, The Cannie Man have enjoyed a far less fruitful first foray into the top flight and will be returning to Division 1 after just one season, having spent much of this year rooted to the foot of the table. They will no doubt regroup next season though and will be one of the front runners for the promotion places.

Also dropping out of the top flight are the Prince of Wales who have endured a miserable season, despite reaching the Plate Final. Struggling for a consistent starting five for much of this year, the Prince have found consistency hard to come by and a disastrous run-in has proved very costly indeed for a side many tipped to be much nearer the top of the table at the beginning of the season.

The Sandhurst S.C meanwhile have underachieved terribly this season and ending the season third bottom as their struggle to secure their Premier League safety ultimately ended in disappointment.

BDPL Division 1

Meanwhile, in Division 1, the Crowthorne Club showed that last season's disastrous Winter League was firmly behind them as they comfortably secured the BDPL Division 1 Title and an instant return to the top flight. Also returning to the top flight after a brief absence are the Club 8 A who have improved markedly over the past couple of seasons and should be confident of holding their own next season.

At the other end of the table, The Crown Wood have found their inaugural season in the league a tough one, winning only the one match but will no doubt be far stronger for the experience next season and we look forward to welcoming them back. Meanwhile, the Goose have also had another difficult year but have built on last season's performance and will be looking for a mid-table finish next year.

BDPL Knock-out Cup Semi Finals

DRAW MADE FOR SEMI FINALS OF BDPL TEAM KNOCK-OUT CUP AND FINALS NIGHT FOR BDPL PLATE COMPETITION

The draw has been made for the Semi Finals of the 2014/15 BDPL Team Knock-out Cup. Ties will be played this coming Thursday 2nd April with the winning Teams progressing to the final of the Main Competition.

The semi finals sees some familar sides with three of last season's semi finalists involved again. The William Twigg A will face off against the Cricketers looking to avenge consecutive losses against their bogey side the Cricketers in what promises to be a lively evening's entertainment at the neutral venue of the Sandhurst S.C.

Having demolished the Crowthorne Club 8-0 in the Quarter Finals, the Twigg Gypos have avoided their Twigg neighbours but will instead face a particularly tricky tie against the Premier League's surpise package, the Club V8, who have enjoyed a spectacular first season in the top flight and who are certain to provide stern opposition. The tie will be played at the Cricketers.

Plate Competition

Meanwhile, it's Finals night in the Plate Competition and sees familiar opponents face off with the Prince of Wales and Club B 8 squaring up to one another is what could prove a closer contest than respective league positions may suggest. The Plate Final will be held at the William Twigg and we wish both teams the best of luck.

BDPL Knock-out Cup 1/4 Finals

DRAW MADE FOR QUARTER FINALS OF BDPL TEAM KNOCK-OUT CUP AND SEMI FINALS OF BDPL TEAM PLATE

The draw has been made for the Quarter Finals of the 2014/15 BDPL Team Knock-out Cup. Ties will be played this coming Thursday 26th February with the winning Teams progressing to the last four of the Main Competition.

The Second Round threw up a major shock with the Woodcutters, one of the pre Tournament favourites, being unceremoniously dumped out by the William Twigg B. And there was a further Premier League casualty as the Cannie Man also found their cup run abruptly ended by the Newtown Pippin.

Elsewhere the William Twigg A breezed through to the last eight with an emphatic victory of the Bracknell Bowls, whilst the Twigg Gypos were made to work rather harder for their victory, finally edging out the Sun 8 - 5 in a tightly contested encounter.

So onto the Quarter Finals which has been kind to the Tournament favourites, with the Twigg A, Twigg Gypos and the Cricketers all managing to avoid each other.

The Twigg A host their B Team in what is sure to be a lively affair, whilst the Twigg Gypos host the Crowthorne Club. The Cricketers meanwhile face a tricky trip to the Sandhurst S.C. whilst the Club V8 also face a tough tie as they play host to the Newtown Pippin who have already claimed a Premier League scalp in the shape of the Cannie Man.

Plate Competition

So we find ourselves at Semi Final Stage in a Competition which looks as open as anything with any one of the remaining four sides being more than capable of taking the title. Having sauntered past the Boot, the Green Man B will play host to the Prince of Wales, whilst the Admiral Cunningham, beneficiaries of a walkover in the previous round, will travel to Club 8 B who edged out the Crown Wood 8 - 5 to reach the last four.

BDPL Knock-out Cup Round 1

DRAW MADE FOR SECOND ROUND OF BDPL TEAM KNOCK-OUT CUP AND FIRST ROUND OF BDPL TEAM PLATE

The draw has been made for the Second Round of the 2014/15 BDPL Team Knock-out Cup. Ties will be played this coming Thursday 22nd January with the winning Teams progressing to the last eight of the Main Competition and with a place in the Semi Finals awaiting the Winners of this Round of the Plate Competition.

The First Round a complete clean sweep of away victories as most of the Premier League sides avoided the ignomy of a Cup upset. All that is except the Prince of Wales who succumbed to defeat to the Newtown Pippin B in what was an excellent result for the Division 1 side.

So onto Round 2 which has thrown up several interesting ties. most notably the William Twigg A's visit to the Bracknell Bowls Club in what is likely to be a tricky tie for last season's Premier League Runners-up.

Elsewhere, the Cricketers and Sandhurst Sports Club will be pleased to have secured safe passage through to Round 2 without so much as having to raise a cue as they find themselves the beneficiaries of the two byes, with one having been created following the demise of the Molly Millar side.

Meanwhile, the Crowthorne Club entertain Club 8 A and the Green Man Old Boys face a tricky home tie against a Club V8 side who've started the season in excellent form and who upset the Cricketers last week.

The Newtown Pippin entertain the Cannie Man in what is likely to be a raucous affair whilst the Woodcutters travel to the William Twigg B in what will no doubt be equally as entertaining an evening. In Round 2's final match, the Sun entertain the Twigg Gypos and will be looking to avenge their home League defeat earlier in the Season.

Plate Competition

As for the Plate Competition, The Goose face a daunting encounter as they entertain the Prince of Wales, favourites for the Competition. The Admiral Cunningham meanwhile, who will also fancy their chances of silverware, host the Royal Oak, whilst the Crown Wood's tie against Club 8 B and the Boot's fixture at home to the Green Man B complete the line up.

Molly Millar Withdraw

MOLLY MILLAR WITHDRAW FROM THE LEAGUE

Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, the Molly Millar have unfortunately had to withdrawn from this season's Winter League. Consequently, all previous results involving them have been expunged and any subsequent fixtures against them will be replaced with a bye. The Premier League Fixture List has been updated accordingly.

BDPL Knock-out Cup Round 1

DRAW MADE FOR FIRST ROUND OF BDPL TEAM KNOCK-OUT CUP

The draw has been made for the First Round of the 2014/15 BDPL Team Knock-out Cup. Ties will be played this coming Thursday 4th December with the winning Teams progressing to Round 2 whilst the losers will enter the Plate Competition.

As with last Season, the Committee has taken the decision to seed seven of the Premier League sides based upon final standings in last years Winter League. We hope that this decision will result in a more open Main and Plate Competition for all BDPL Teams.

The First Round sees some interesting ties and a couple of potential banana skins for several of the Premier League sides who find themselves drawn against high flying Division 1 opposition. The Admiral Cunningham have put last season's disappointment behind them and have got off to a flyer this season and will prove a stern test for the newly promoted Club V8 who themselves have started well. Likewise, the Prince of Wales will expect a tough night as they play host to the Newtown Pippin B.

Meanwhile, the Goose and Crown Wood who face very tricky ties against Club 8a and the Crowthorne Club and Club 8a will be hoping the Cup proves a welcome distraction from the League that a good cup performance might be the catalyst to an upturn in fortunes in the New Year.

In the remaining ties, the Green Man Old Boys entertain the Club 8b whilst the Royal Oak go head to head with the William Twigg B

WILLIAM TWIGG COMPLETE TREBLE WHILST MOLLY MILLAR WIN SUMMER LEAGUE PLATE

Congratulations to the William Twigg who edged out their bitter rivals the Twigg A to claim the Summer League Trophy and in doing so capped a highly successful eighteen months for the resurgent Gypos side as they sealed a clean sweep of the BDPL Winter and Summer League major honours. In a high quality and typically tight encounter, frames were shared and the sides found themselves neck and neck at five frames a-piece going into the final set, before the Twigg edged ahead 7 - 5. The fourteenth frame saw the William Twigg finally see off their neighbour's chalenge, and in some style as Shane Cuthbert produced a quality break and clearance to secure the title.

Meanwhile, in the Summer League Plate Final, the Molly Millar continued their astonishing record of having secured a trophy in each of the three BDPL Summer League Seasons by edging out the Crowthorne Club. The Molly Millar's Summer League pedigree meant they went into the Final as favourites. However, the resurgent Crowthorne Club have finally started to show some of the form their squad is capable of having endured a dreadful Winter League which culminated in a shock relegation.

And it was the Crowthorne Club who were out of the blocks quickest, facing into a 4 - 2 lead before a splendid fightback from the Mollys saw them win six of the last 7 frames to stun the Crowthorne Team and claim their third Trophy in three seasons.

A reminder that the BDPL Singles and Doubles Knock-out Finals will be played at the William Twigg on Thursday 3rd July immediately following the Summer League 2013 and Winter League 2014 Presentation Evening.

Singles Knock-out

The Singles Knock-out Final sees former Teammates Leigh Morshead of the William Twigg and Kevin Bassett of the William Twigg A go head to head in what will undoubtedly be a quality and keenly contested encounter.

Defending champion Kevin booked his place in the Final with a hard fought victory over teammate Sean Watson, eventually securing a 10-5 victory despite being pushed hard all the way by Sean who has never beaten Kevin in singles competion and who was looking to reach his first Singles Final.

Meanwhile, his opponent Leigh Morshead, a previous Singles Champion, booked his place in the Final with a thrilling 10-9 victory over The Woodcutters' Danny Fryer who has himself enjoyed a hugely successful season and was at the time, the only player still involved in the Singles, Doubles and Captains KO Competitions.

Have surged into a 7 - 0 lead, it looked like Leigh would cruise into the Final, before a fantastic comeback from Danny saw him haul his way back into the tie and draw level at 9 - 9 before finally being edged out.

Doubles Knock-out

The Doubles Knock-out Final sees The Woodcutters' Danny Fryer and Simon Genduso up against the William Twigg's Jack Davies and Chris Tate. With Danny having already edged out Chris 10 - 7 to claim the Captains' Cup Title earlier this week, there is sure to be some added spice to the match as the former looks to secure his second title of the season whilst the latter looks to exact some retribution.

The Woodcutters pair secured their spot in the Final with a shock victory over pre-Tournament favourites Kevin Bassett and Paul Walter of the William Twigg A. In truth, it was the manner of the victory - a comfortable 9 -3 win - which was the shock, rather than the result itself, and has underlined their credentials as a pairing not to be taken lightly by their Final opponents.

Meanwhile, The Twigg pair booked their place in the final courtesy of a hard fought win against the William Twigg A pairing of Spike Harling and Charlie Caladio. A sluggish start saw messrs Tate and Davies trail 3 - 1 and 5 - 3 before the pair finally settled into the game and produced some excellent pool to draw level at 5 a piece, a position from which they never looked back as they surged to a 10 - 5 victory than was in truth, a closer fought contest than the score suggests.

WOODCUTTERS' DANNY FRYER IS BDPL 2014 CAPTAIN'S CUP WINNER

Congratulations to the Woodcutters' Danny Fryer who came out on top in a thrilling Captain's Cup Final against the William Twigg's Chris Tate last night to claim the BDPL Captain's Cup.

First out of the blocks, the Woodcutters Captain soon thundered into a commanding lead, racking up six frames without reply as Chris Tate laboured horribly early on, missing several early chances which would ultimately prove costly.

With the tie seemingly out of his reach and staring at a potentially crushing defeat, the Twigg Captain rallied and with occasional errors now creeping into his opponent's game, finally found some form and clawed his way back to 7 - 7 before an excellent double on the black from Mr. Fryer in the hugely significant fifthteenth frame stopped the rot and saw him edge ahead again.

Into the sixteenth frame, and with the tie perfectly poised, a total clearance looked likely to bring the scores level again, but a tricky missed black would prove hugely costly for the William Twigg Captain as Danny grabbed the frame to take a 9 - 7 lead before edging his opponent out in another extremely tight seventeenth frame to claim an ultimately deserved 10 - 7 victory.

8 Ball Clearance Competition

WILLIAM TWIGG'S JACK DAVIES IS BDPL 2014 8 BALL CLEARANCE CHAMPION

Congratulations to the William Twigg's Jack Davies who is the 2014 8 Ball Clearance Champion whose impresses haul of 4 total clearances from the break surpasses that of last year's winner, Paul Hawkins of the Bridge House and saw him edge out The Village Inn's Paul Theobold and The Club 8's Alan Halwood who both chipped in with only a slightly less impressive 3 break and dishes.

In a further indication of the increased quality of this year's Winter League, last season's total of 27 break and total clearances was eclipsed by a hugely impressive total of 36 this season, achieved by no less than 27 different players against last season's 17.

BDPL Player Stats

WILLIAM TWIGG A'S KEVIN BASSETT IS BDPL PLAYER STATS CHAMPION 2014

Congratulations to the William Twigg A's Kevin Bassett who has once again been crowned the BDPL Winter League Player Stats Champion.

It underlines another fantastic season for the Twigg A dangerman whose 54 wins from a total of 63 frames played gives him a quite frankly staggering win percentage of 86%, leaving him well clear of second placed Leigh Morshead of rivals The William Twigg who notched up a win percentage of 77%, with 43 wins from a total of 56 frames played - an extremely impressive stat in its own right.

Completing the top 3 is another Twigg player, slalwart Mick Worsfold who has again proved age is no barrier with an excellent 44 wins from 59 frames leaving him with a win percentage of 75%.

WILLIAM TWIGG RETAIN KEITH STRONG MEMORIAL TROPHY WHILST CANNIE MAN WIN WINTER LEAGUE PLATE

Congratulations to the William Twigg who edged out the Cricketers in a thrilling Final to retain the BDPL Keith Strong Memorial Trophy.

The Cricketers started brilliantly and raced into a two frame lead, before the Twigg rallied to cut the lead to just a single frame at the end of the first set of five frames. They then produced a stunning second set, winning all 5 to race into a 7 - 3 lead. However, with the Twigg's Rob Morshead missing a black for a total clearance which would have won the Cup in style, it was the Cricketers turn to rally themselves, producing some great pool to drag themselves back to 7 - 6. A hugely tense frame between the Twigg's Leigh Morshead and the Cricketer's Wayne Lee eventually went the Twigg's way as they clinched a narrow 8 - 6 victory and successfully defended their Cup Title.

Congratulations too to the Cannie Man who rounded off a fantastic Season by edging out the Club 8 A to claim the Winter League Plate title. In another keenly fought contest, the Cannie Man eventually edged out the Club 8 A 8 - 6 to secure their second honour of the Season having already secured promotion to the BDPL Premier League having claimed second spot in BDPL Division 1.

DRAW MADE FOR THIRD ROUND OF BDPL SINGLES KO AND DOUBLES KO QUARTER FINALS AND CAPTAINS' CUP SEMI FINALS

The draws have been made for the Quarter Finals of the 2013/14 Singles and Doubles Knock-out Competions and the Captains' Cup Semi Finals, All Singles, Doubles and Captains' Cup Matches will be best of 17 frames and ties are to be played by Sunday 25th May, 2014. Results can be texted to any member of the Committee whose contact details can be found here.

Singles Knock-out

The Quarter Finals of the Singles KO sees the leading players from the BDPL face off in what is a hugely tough competition. The William Twigg's Leigh Morshead, who edged out his brother in Round 3 faces Brett Cooney who pulled off an excellent performance to dump team mate Paul Walter out of the competition.

Tournament favourite Kevin Bassett plays Rubin Ball in another stiff test of the former's title credentials whilst Steve Ring and Sean Watson, former team mates, will go head to head in what is likely to be a pulsating encounter. In the last of the Quarter Final ties, dark horse Jeff Reed entertains the Woodcutters' Danny Fryer, pitting two of the League's most attacking players against each other.

Doubles Knock-out

The Quarter Final of the Doubles KO is awash with big names and ties too close to call. The William Twigg pair of Jack Davies and Chris Tate, who thumped the Blue Lion pair of Alan Seabrook and James Orbell in Round 3, face off against Darren Reilly and Mark Woodhouse of the Crowthorne Inn who have come through several tricky ties already to be genuine contenders for the title. Elsewhere, the much fancied William Twigg pairing of Kevin Bassett and Paul Walter host the strong Woodcutters pairing of Danny Fryer and Simon Genduso is what is likely to be a tight affair.

The third of the Quarter Final ties sees another Twigg pairing, John Harling and Charlie Caladio entertain the Tournament's dark horses, Shane Weir and Dave Hurn of the Prince of Wales, whilst the final tie sees the very dangerous Club 8 pair of Richard Levesconte and Alan Halwood play host to yet another strong Twigg pairing of Mick Worsfold and Ryan O'Donnell.

Captains' Cup Competition

The Semi Final of the Captains' Cup Competition sees The William Twigg's John Harling renew rivalries with the Woodcutters' Danny Fryer whilst the William Twigg's Chris Tate faces off against the Village Inn's Matt Andrews, the first ever match between the two.

BDPL Division 1 Promotion Shake Up

DIVISION 1 SEASON DRAWS TO A CLOSE WITH PROMOTION AND PLAY-OFF PLACES DECIDED

The second Winter League Season has now drawn to a close for Division 1 and it was a thrilling end to the season with only a handful of points separating six teams all looking to secure a Play-Off position.

Two teams who won't have to endure the lottery of the Play-Offs are The Village Inn and the Cannie Man who take the top two places. The Village Inn have enjoyed an outstanding season, having only gained promotion to the second tier last season, they've carried on where they left off and have topped what has been one of the strongest Division 1 for quite some time. Congratulations too to The Cannie Man who built on an excellent season last year to hold off stiff competition from the likes of the Newtown Pippin B, to clinth the second automatic promotion place. Both teams will be welcome additions to the Premier League next Season, and the Village Inn certainly may surprise a few.

A thumping 11-4 defeat of the Golden Farmer B saw the Newtown Pippin B secure 3rd spot and the first Play-Off berth. Meanwhile, an even more impressive demolition of fellow Play-Off rivals Club 8 A, saw the William Twigg B cap a fine season by securing 4th spot and the second Play-Off berth.

Despite the final day drubbing, Club 8 A secure fifth spot by a whisker from the other Club 8 side, with Club 8 B scrapping into the Play-Offs courtesy of a Crown Wood no-show, leaving the Squirrels - who edged out table toppers The Village Inn to keep alive their Play-Off hopes, just missing out as they had to settle for seventh place and a another season in Division 1.

So onto the Play-Offs. Third placed Newtown Pippin B will travel to sixth placed Club 8 B in the first leg of their Play-Off Semi Final this coming Thursday 8th May. Having edged out their opponents twice by the narrowest of margins in both League Fixtures, The Newtown Pippin B will start as slight favourites but Club 8 B will be keen to avenge their two slender defeats and secure a Play-Off Final Spot.

In the other Semi Final, The William Twigg B will travel to Club 8 A for their Semi-Final first leg, fresh from a 10-5 thumping of their opponents on the final day of the normal season. However, having been edged out 8-7 in the earlier fixture, this is likely to be much tighter than the final day result suggests.

The draw has been made for the Semi Finals of the 2013/14 BDPL Team Knock-out Cup. Ties will be played on Thursday 10th April.

BDPL Team Knock-out Cup - Semi Finals

The Semi Final Draw sees the current Premier League Top 2 avoid each other but both will face extremely stiff competition. Current Premier League leaders The William Twigg A who overcame a spirited performance from The Village Inn in the Quarter Finals will face off against The Cricketers who they edged out in a thriling match in the BDPL Premier League just a couple of weeks ago. The other William Twigg side meanwhile will go head to head with The Bridge House having struck an early psycological blow with a convincing 10-5 victory in the League last Thursday.

BDPL Team Plate Knock-out Cup - Final

Meanwhile, this Season's BDPL Team Plate Final will be contested between two Division 1 sides, with The Cannie Man who thumped Premier League strugglers Golden Farmer A in the Semi Finals squaring up against Club 8 A who pulled out an excellent performance to dispatch The Newtown Pippin. The match is expected to be a tight affair with both teams well in the hunt for promotion this year and will be played on the same date as the Main Competition Final on Thursday 29th May, 2014.

DRAW MADE FOR THIRD ROUND OF BDPL SINGLES KO AND DOUBLES KO COMPETITIONS AND CAPTAINS' CUP QUARTER FINALS

The draws have been made for the Third Round of the 2013/14 Singles and Doubles Knock-out Competions and the Captains' Cup Quarter Finals, All Singles, Doubles and Captains' Cup Matches will be best of 15 frames and ties are to be played by Sunday 20th April, 2014. Results can be texted to any member of the Committee whose contact details can be found here.

Singles Knock-out

The Third Round of the Singles KO is dominated by the big hitters with several mouth watering ties, most notably the William Twigg's Leigh and Rob Morshead who face off against each other for sibling bragging rights. Elsewhere Tournament Favourite Kevin Bassett hosts the Cricketers' Des Woods in a repeat of last Season's Semi Final. The Royal Oak's Jaz Kaler faces a tricky tie against the William Twigg's Rubin Ball, as does the Prince of Wales' Danny Cronin who travels to the Woodcutters to face Steve Ring.

In other noteworthy ties, Matt Andrews of the Village Inn and Jeff Reed of the Cricketers will square off in what's likely to be a tightly fought encounter.

Meanwhile, the William Twigg's Paul Walter faces an interesting tie against Team mate' Brett Cooney.

Doubles Knock-out

The Third Round of the Doubles KO also doesn't disappoint with several ties which are likely to go to the wire.

Tournament favourites Kevin Bassett and Paul Walter of the William Twigg face Team mates Sean Watson and Brett Cooney in what will be a tough examination of their pre-tournament favourites tag. The William Twigg's Chris Tate and Jack Davies entertain the Blue Lion's very capable pairing of Alan Seabrook and James Orbell.

Elsewhere, Mark Wackrill and Paul Hawkins of the Bridge House will no doubt prove particularly tough opponents for the William Twigg pairing of Mick Worsfold and Ryan O'Donnell. Meanwhile, Matt Andrews and Graham Holmes from the Village Inn will need to be on top of their game if they are to overcome the dangerous Club 8 pairing of Richard Levesconte and Alan Halwood.

In other noteworthy ties, Dave Hurnb and Shane Weir who came through a tricky tie in Round 2, travel to the Sandhurst Sports Club to face Paul Burnett and Tim Evans. The Crowthorne Club's Darren Reilly and Mark Woodhouse also face a potential banana skin as they entertain the Village Inn pair of Paul Theobold and Alex Anderson.

Captains' Cup Competition

The Quarter Final of the Captains' Cup Competition sees a particularly strong field with any of the remaining eight Captains fancying their chances of lifting the title this year. The Woodcutters' Danny Fryer faces The Sun's Jamie Newington, whilst the William Twigg's John Harling will entertain Club 8's Alan Halwood, with both ties too close to call. Will Gilbert of the Golden Farmer A and Steve Herbert of Club 8 A faces tricky ties against the William Twigg's Chris Tate and the Village Inn's Matt Andrews respectively, but in truth, the Semi Finals could conceivably contain any of the eight players left.
